2020 Cipher Brief Threat Conference

Today’s threat actors are succeeding by staying one-step ahead of their targets, whether that means adapting new technologies for their own benefit or using known strategies in new ways like we’re seeing with the Internet of Things, or through the use of gray zone tactics by geopolitical powers around the world. In order for the U.S. and its allies to understand and be prepared for future threats, we need to challenge what we think we know and be open to new innovative ideas intended to counter future threats, regardless of where those ideas come from. The new national security playbook has to allow time to set politics aside to find better, more efficient ways for the public and private sectors to work together, sharing best practices on identifying and investing in new technologies and challenging the ways in which we have traditionally thought about threats and opportunities.
