3rd Annual Securing Online Gaming

Gaming and gambling companies face some of the most challenging cyber-security problems around. They can be attacked by everyone from bored teens to organised crime. Direct attacks are common but customers can also be scammed via forums and fake sites, as recently when hackers stole 2.5 million PlayStation and Xbox players' details from two popular gaming forums and managed to take details including email addresses, passwords and IP addresses, it has recently been revealed. It has taken more than a year for the attack to be made public. Sometimes attacks are just annoying. When the Cyberwolf gang took over the Twitter accounts of gaming firms Square Enix and Just Cause they did so just to hurl insults. Still, it took several hours for the hack to be noticed. But mostly they are dangerous and expensive.
