Security BSides (commonly referred to as BSides) is a community-driven endeavor for building events for and by information security community members. BSides was co-founded by Mike Dahn, Jack Daniel, and Chris Nickerson in 2009. BSides was born out of number of rejections to the Calls For Papers (CFP) for Black Hat USA 2009. A number of quality speakers were rejected, not due to lack of content but lack of space and time. Any constrained system must operate within the bounds to which it has defined itself. The goal of BSides is to expand the spectrum of conversation beyond the traditional confines of space and time. It creates opportunities for individuals to both present and participate in an intimate atmosphere that encourages collaboration. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. It is where conversations for the next-big-thing are happening.
