New Haven Public Schools suffered a ransomware attack, which crippled the school’s official website.

Michael Pinto, the district’s Chief Operating Officer, did not reveal much about the attack but said that the attackers infected the school’s website with ransomware. While the school was working on the new website, Pinto confirmed that the attack was not due to any software installation, but because of the attackers.

“It was a hacker attack. This was not because we installed any software,” Pinto said, New Haven Independent reported.

Upon which, the school reviewed its security protocols and worked diligently to restore the critical functionality of the school.
