Online coding bootcamp company Thinkful suffered a data breach after an unauthorized third-party gained access to certain company credentials.

What was the immediate action taken?

Upon discovery, Thinkful immediately launched an investigation on the incident and promptly changed the credentials. The company also took the appropriate necessary steps to improve its security measures.

“As soon as we discovered this unauthorized access we promptly changed the credentials, took additional steps to enhance the security measures we have in place, and initiated a full investigation,” Thinkful said in an email notification.

What was the response?

Thinkful confirmed that the compromised credentials could not have provided access to Social Security numbers or financial information such as bank account numbers or credit card numbers.

However, the bootcamp company, out of abundance caution has notified its users about the incident and has asked them to reset their Thinkful passwords.

“Additionally, at this time we have no evidence of any unauthorized access to any other Thinkful user account data or user information. However, as a measure of added precaution, we are requiring all users to reset their Thinkful passwords,” Thinkful said.
