Bangladeshi oil company PetroBangla’s website gets hacked twice

• The official website of PetroBangla was initially hacked on April 07, 2019.
• On April 08, 2019, around 9.30 AM, the company restored its websites. However, hackers managed to successfully hack the website for the second time around 5 PM.

PetroBangla is a government-owned national Oil, Gas, and Mineral company in Bangladesh.

Why it matters - After being restored on April 08, 2019, the website was again hacked the same day.

The big picture

The official website of PetroBangla was initially hacked on April 07, 2019. Upon hacking the website, the suspected hackers named ‘N33LOB33’ wrote ‘Your All Data Are Safe’ on the website. The hackers also left a message on the website.

Respect: TiGER-M@TE | Bangladesh Cyber Army | Team_CC | BD Grey Hat Hackers | 3xp1r3 Cyber Army | Bangladesh Script Kiddie Hackers | Blacksmith Hackers Team,” the message read, Dhaka Tribune reported.

• Upon learning about the hack, the oil company immediately took down its servers.
• PetroBangla also worked on restoring the compromised website.

“We are yet to confirm who hacked the website; it will be clear during office hours tomorrow (Monday), once the website is restored,” Tariqul told the Dhaka Tribune.

Second instance

On April 08, 2019, around 9.30 AM, the company restored its websites. However, hackers managed to successfully hack the website for the second time around 5 PM.

This time, hackers left a message asking the company to contact them via email.

“It is not possible to work with such security. It has been hacked again. Contact at n33lob33@mail.ru. We are fixing the weakness in your security,” the message read.

“Hacking Is Not Crime. It’s An Art Of Logic. Respect : TiGER-M@TE | Bangladesh Cyber Army | Team_CC | BD Grey Hat Hackers | 3xp1r3 Cyber Army | Bangladesh Script Kiddie Hackers | Blacksmith Hackers Team |,” the message added.
