The effects of a November ransomware attack against Oceanside, California’s Tri-City Medical Center were contained more than two weeks ago, but now those behind the cyber incident are publishing stolen data on the dark web.

Modesto confirmed that the February 3 breach of its Police Department's digital network was a ransomware attack and said that a number of people's personal information, including Social Security and driver's license numbers, may have been accessed.

Southeastern Louisiana University suffered a week-long outage of its website, email, or system for submitting assignments after a "potential incident" last week caused the university to shut down its network.

The newly created Cyber Unit falls under the state’s Office of Homeland Security and will act as a centralized cybersecurity information and response center. The unit will be led by the state’s first Cyber Director Bobby Freeman.
